The Village of Lytton launched Future Forward: Lytton's Official Community Plan (OCP) Update in August 2025. The plan is being developed by the community through ongoing engagement opportunities.

The previous Village OCP was drafted almost 30 years ago. The new OCP is intended to be more inclusive, considering the broader community’s needs and aspirations particularly given impacts of the 2021 fire and flood events, the subsequent recovery and the need to plan redevelopment priorities, and stimulate the Village’s economy. The OCP will also recognize the importance of reconciliation and relationships with the Nlaka‘pamux, incorporate new legislative requirements, and re-stimulate the Village’s economic vitality.
The vision, principles of the OCP together with the policies and actions have been developed through community input and where appropriate technical investigations. such as hazardous conditions, environmental status and emergency planning.
From mid-September to November 2026 the Village will be releasing sections of the draft document. The sections will also be sent to Nlaka’pamux Nation (Kanaka Bar Indian Band, Siska Indian Band, Nicomen Indian Band, Skuppah Indian Band, Cooks Ferry Indian Band and Lytton First Nation), the Thompson–Nicola Regional District (TNRD), and local community interest groups for comment and review.
To gather input from the community and area governments, each section will be released with a short questionnaire, which can be done online (Survey Monday) or printed and emailed (to planning@lytton.ca) or dropped off at Village Office.

Following the review of the draft OCP sections, staff will prepare the OCP Bylaw for initial readings by Council, which will be sent as formal referrals to Nlaka’pamux Chiefs and Councils, the TNRD, and other required agencies. It is anticipated that the statutory approval process will commence late in November and continue through the end of 2026.
