Staff provides progress report on OCP Update; meet with staff to share your ideas

Type(s)
Village Update

At the November 25, 2025, Council meeting, staff shared a progress report on the Official Community Plan (OCP) Update.

The Village launched the project informally at the Farmers’ Market and Village Open House in the summer. This was followed by the community launch workshop and presentation on October 27, walking workshop on October 28, and online/printed questionnaire from October 27 to November 14.

The Village was not successful in meeting pre-launch goals of receiving formal feedback and direction from Nlaka’pamux staff and Councils about how they would like to participate in the process. The Village’s staff and Council will continue having conversations with neighbouring communities and leaders and inviting participation from community members in the Village and surrounding areas throughout the project.

Currently

Staff are identifying technical expertise required for the update, including Nlaka’pamux and settler history, environmental protection, slope stability, arts and culture, agriculture, green energy, and economic development.

Does your organization want to meet with staff to share your ideas?

The Village has reached out to several community organizations in and around Lytton, as well as Nlaka’pamux staff and Councils.

We would like to continue conversations and listen to ideas from the Village of Lytton, Cook’s Ferry, Nicomen, Skuppah, Siska, Kanaka Bar, Lytton First Nation, and Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council.

Interested?

Email Director of Development Caroline Lamont (clamont@lytton.ca) to set up a meeting in person, online, or by phone.

Next steps

Staff will analyze feedback provided from the project launch meeting, survey, and informal discussions to develop a community survey/workbook at the end of 2025 or start of 2026.

This will be another opportunity for community members to share input for Lytton’s Official Community Plan Update. Results from this survey will help to inform policy directions for the updated Official Community Plan.
