Council Briefs
At their meeting on Tuesday, January 28, Council:
- Received an update on corporate key performance indicators as of December 2024 (This is a way of measuring progress towards objectives in the corporate/rebuilding plan);
- Received an update on key capital projects, including the Community Hub, Village Office, Public Works Building, Fire Hall, and sewer and water infrastructure (Read the article below);
- Approved the December submission to Emergency Management BC for the reimbursement of expenses under the recovery grant, which is a requirement of the Village's contribution agreement (for rebuilding funding) with the Province of B.C.
- Adopted a proclamation policy, which aims to streamline Council meetings by listing proclamations on the agenda as correspondence for information. (This change will allow Council to still acknowledge the importance of proclamations, but reduce administrative work. The one exception is the request received annually to proclaim a Rail Safety Week);
- Appointed Chief Administrative Officer Diane Mombourquette as the Approving Officer to ensures compliance with municipal and provincial regulations and procedures, when subdivisions are created; and
- Awarded a contract for $33,288 to Great Pacific Consulting Ltd. for a water intake study to be funded from the UBCM Water Grant (The study will help evaluate options for improvement to address current and future capacity requirements and current operational and maintenance concerns).
In addition, Council released the following item from a closed session:
- Authorization of the Mayor and Corporate Officer to execute the purchase and sale agreement for 380 Main Street for $50,000, along with any minor real estate adjustments (The Village of Lytton is purchasing the property from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District to rebuild the Village Office in this location).
