About Lytton Fire & Rescue
Lytton Fire & Rescue serves the Village of Lytton and surrounding communities, providing fire protection, motor vehicle incident response, and medical aid response.
The department is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteer firefighters. They respond to emergencies around the clock, 365 days per year.
In addition to emergency services, the Fire & Rescue team also provides home safety inspections, public education, and community outreach.
Mission Statement
The mission of Lytton Fire & Rescue is to minimize the loss of life and property by public education and the ongoing training of Lytton Fire & Rescue personnel, using current fire suppression and rescue techniques.

Apparatus
Lytton Fire & Rescue Service operates three fire apparatus: Engine 1, Engine 2, and Rescue 1. Each serves a specific function and allows the team to be adequately prepared for any emergency that may arise within their scope of work.

Service range
The Fire Protection Service Area provides coverage to the following areas:
- All portions of the Village of Lytton
- Kumsheen Rafting Resort
- Areas under service agreement, such as Skuppah Indian Band, Siska Indian Band, and Lytton First Nation
The Road Rescue Service Area (for motor vehicle incidents) spans the following areas:
- From Falls Creek to Spences Bridge on Highway 1 and partially down Highway 8
- From Lytton to Laluwissen Creek on Highway 12
All responses outside the Village of Lytton municipal boundaries are cost recoverable through the Province of B.C. under the Road Rescue program.
Fire services review
The Village adopted a Fire Services Review to provide a roadmap for how the department can be fully restored after the 2021 Lytton fire. The plan ensures that the department can provide effective fire and other emergency responses for the Village and the wider service area.

Home safety inspections
Upon request, Lytton Fire & Rescue volunteers will visit your home for a safety inspection. This can include the following:
- Visual inspection of fire extinguishers and smoke alarms
- Recommendations for replacements when necessary
- Assistance with your house evacuation plan
- Tips for kitchen safety
- Inspection of critical areas where fires can start
- Personalized recommendations for fire safety in your home

How to apply
New volunteer firefighters are always welcome to apply! Here are the steps:
- Check that you meet the requirements, below.
- Print the Application for Membership.
Alternatively, pick up a copy at the beginning of weekly training practice. - Fill in the Application for Membership.
- Complete the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (Par-Q+) on pages 2–5 of the application.
- Scan and email your completed application to firerescue@lytton.ca, or bring it to the start of weekly training practice.

Requirements
To join the team, you must be:
- 19 years old or older
- Physically fit
- Willing to attend weekly training
Lytton Fire & Rescue also requires a:
- Valid driver's licence
- Criminal record check
Weekly training practice
The Lytton Fire & Rescue team meets every week for training practice.
Where: The temporary facility next to the Village Office (769 S- Trans Canada Highway)
