Economic Recovery Plan

As part of the recovery and rebuilding process, the Village developed the Lytton and Region Economic Recovery: Recovery Work Plan and Recovery Needs Report. The report was funded by the Northern Development Initiative Trust and received by Council on May 10, 2023.  

The Village has received $1 million from the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development to support economic recovery. The Village allocated $500,000 immediately to fund operations after the fire. Out of the remaining amount, Council has approved $70,000 to create a Tourism Economic Development Plan in collaboration with Destination BC, Vancouver Coast and Mountains (see below).

PacifiCan Lytton Business Restart Program

The Lytton Business Restart Program, delivered by PacifiCan, helps returning and new businesses by providing support for various restart and start-up costs such as equipment, supplies, and construction expenses. 

Through this program, PacifiCan has committed $7.2 million in funding to eligible businesses that will operate in the community of Lytton. 

Eligible businesses may apply for one of two funding streams:   

  • Rapid Restart stream provides up to $20,000 in non-repayable contributions for returning businesses that require a small amount of funds to restart operations. 
  • Small Business Recovery stream provides funding for returning businesses applying for more than $20,000 or new businesses applying for any amount. Businesses can receive up to a maximum of $1 million, with some consideration for non-repayable contributions for businesses that have been identified as critical to Lytton’s rebuild and longer-term economic vitality.

PacifiCan is now accepting applications for the program.

Lytton & District Chamber of Commerce

During the recovery and rebuilding period, Lytton Chamber is focused on advocating for Lytton and its business community. It represents collective interests to various levels of government, policymakers, and relevant organizations.
