Council Briefs
Village Update
At their meeting on Tuesday, June 25, Council:
- Extended the $5,000 archaeology grant to applications submitted by December 31, 2024, with the same terms as the original program;
- Authorized creation of a Protective Services Standing Committee of Council to help and guide the Village's fire prevention and response services and emergency management operations-the committee will include three members of Council, three community members, the Chief Administrative Officer, and the Emergency Management Coordinator;
- Approved grants in aid to four organizations, which normally would have received a permissive exemption for their municipal property taxes-the Village missed the deadline for the permissive exemptions, so the grants in aid will cover the tax amounts for the Anglican Church, Parish Hall, Legion, and Catholic Church properties;
- Received the 2023 Village of Lytton annual report (Download the presentation);
- Approved the 2023 Statement of Financial Information (SOFI) report;
- Received an information report for the annual review of Code of Conduct Policy No. 2023-01;
- Received an information report about the Infrastructure Canada funding process for the Community Hub (Download the presentation)-this funding will also cover the new Fire & Rescue Community Building;
- Received the OCP Permit Areas Project Report 3 for information (Download the presentation);
- Received an information report on Emergency Management, Fire & Rescue Service, and public safety, which provided an overview of regional capacity and immediate next steps (Download the presentation);
- Gave first reading to Zoning Amendment Bylaw (Accessory Dwellings) No. 752, 2024; and
- Adopted Financial Plan 2024-2028 Amendment Bylaw No. 753, 2024.
