Village Update

In the Village's newsletter this week, we introduced Amhani (Hani) Jones. As the Engagement Manager for the Community Hub Project, her role is focussed on building trust and strong relationships with local communities.

Working directly with the Project Advisory Committee (PAC), she will gather insights into community values and aspirations for the Community Hub and organize events and outreach activities to hear from as many voices as possible and will use this feedback to develop a communication and engagement plan.

Hani lives on reserve in Mount Currie, within Líĺwat Nation, and plans to come to Lytton as often as she can. She has a diploma in horticulture technology (landscape technology) and is certified in ecological landscape design.

In her words:

Before founding Leṕcál Design + Consulting, I returned to my home community, Líĺwat Nation, to reconnect with my culture and support greater recognition of Indigenous presence on our traditional territory

The opportunity to work with the Village of Lytton resonated deeply with me — it offers a chance to help other Indigenous communities shape projects from the beginning. My work centres on connecting plants, people, and place, and this project reflects that vision.

Because community engagement is at the heart of my role, it’s important for me to spend time in Lytton and the surrounding areas to connect meaningfully with community members.

If you have questions about the Community Hub Project or would like to provide input, I’d love to hear from you. You may also want to introduce me to a community member who has valuable insight into your culture, needs, or creative vision. All voices are welcome as we shape this project together.
