Ashcroft Journal's September 17, 2026 article, Lytton celebrates groundbreaking for first retail business since fire, highlights a milestone for the business community, as Denise Haugen breaks ground to rebuild the first retail business, Suncatcher Crafts, which was lost in the 2021 fire.

“We’ve waited more than five years for retail to begin again on the old village site,” said Bernie Fandrich, president of the Lytton and District Chamber of Commerce. “We’re looking forward to more businesses that are about to rebuild as confidence in Lytton’s future continues to grow.

“People in Lytton know something about perseverance. It’s taken much longer than any of us hoped, and there have been plenty of setbacks, but we keep plowing ahead. Now we’re starting to see that work pay off, and every new foundation gives the whole area another reason to believe in Lytton’s future.”
