Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are at the heart of the community, supporting:

  • essential fire and rescue services,
  • parks planting,
  • local sports teams, and
  • annual gatherings and events like the Lytton Cemetery Clean-up, May Day long weekend celebrations, Christmas parade, Lytton River Festival, and more. 

The following are some volunteer opportunities in Lytton:

Village of Lytton

  • Lytton Fire & Rescue  |  firerescue@lytton.ca
    • Join our team of dedicated volunteer firefighters and help keep your community safe. 
    • Take part in fun, skill-building weekly training practices.
    • Make life-long friendships.
    • Get valuable training that you can use for a future career in emergency services.
  • Emergency Support Services (ESS) provides short-term assistance to residents forced to leave their homes due to a fire, flood, earthquake or other emergencies. This assistance is available for 72 hours after an evacuation and includes food, shelter, clothing, emotional support, and family reunification.
    • As a volunteer, you will receive regular training to help prepare Lytton to provide ESS, when a disaster affects a home, neighbourhood, or the community.
    • Contribute with flexible roles that suit your schedule, skills, and experience.
  • Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program is a community resilience program that offers training, so neighbours can be prepared to work together for the first 72 hours after an emergency.
    • Join the program and receive free training.
    • Work with your neighbours to build community resilience.
    • Identify shared skills, experience, and resources to respond to emergencies.
  • TLKemchEEn FireSmart Committee |  Email: firesmart@lfn.band is a collaborative community working group of member organizations including Lytton First Nation, Village of Lytton, BC Wildfire Service, Thompson Nicola Regional District, Lytton Fire Rescue, BC Emergency Health Services and interested community members. 
    • Get involved to support FireSmart education and hands-on activities for the Village of Lytton and Lytton First Nation.
