BC Wildfire Service update: Smoke will be visible from pile burning beginning October 24, 2024, at Skihist Provincial Park

Type(s)
Partner Update

The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting a pile burning project located at the Skihist Provincial Park near the Village of Lytton.

BC Wildfire Service crews will be working to burn approximately 20 piles starting as early as Thursday, October 24 through to the end of November. This project is taking place in conjunction with danger tree falling and bucking to remove hazards to trail users and reduce the accumulations of fuels (e.g., dead wood or brush) around the Old Wagon trail within the park.

Smoke from piles may be visible to residents from the Village of Lytton, Lytton First Nation, Gladwin, Nicomen Indian Band, and surrounding communities. Pile burning will only proceed if conditions are favourable. BC Wildfire Service personnel will carefully prepare, control, and monitor these piles at all times.

To report a wildfire, unattended campfire, or open burning violation, please call 1-800-663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone.
