Council Briefs
Village Update
At their meeting on June 10, 2025, Council:
- Received the draft 2024 annual report and audited financial statements (read the article below);
- Authorized the Chief Administrative Officer to negotiate a contract with O4 Architecture Ltd. to design the Community Hub (read the article below);
- Received the Development Services activity report on development permit and building permit applications and inquiries up to the end of the May 2025;
- Received a report on Pocket Park improvements and approved Location B as the preferred option for the new shade structure in the park (download the presentation); and
- Received an update on emergency management and fire rescue services.
A late item was added to the agenda: a verbal update from Chief Administrative Officer Diane Mombourquette about the River Road sewer construction. During her update (Watch the meeting recording from 1:02 to 1:17) Mombourquette described:
- The urgency and need for the sewer main replacement on River Road
- The construction procurement and planning process
- The unfortunate circumstances that led to the most difficult part of the project (with the most impact on vehicular and pedestrian traffic) taking place at the same time that the Lytton ferry was out of service
- Lessons learned for future projects
