Public hearing
- There was a public hearing on May 12, 2026 for two bylaws intended to enable the development of small essential housing units on lots owned by the Village:
Zoning Amendment Bylaw (7th Street) No. 781, 2026 to designate the 7th Street road end (east of Station Road) to R1S (Low Density Residential Small Lot); and - Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw (7th Street) No. 782, 2026 to designate the 7th Street road end (east of Station Road) to Low Density Residential.
Later in the meeting, Council gave third readings to these bylaws.
Regular Council Meeting
During the Regular Council Meeting on May 12, 2026, Council:

Passed several resolutions related to the construction of small essential housing units on lots owned by the Village (read the presentation), including:

Approving the selection of Lane One Homes Ltd. to construct an essential housing duplex located at 701 and 703 Station Road for $535,000 plus GST;

Approving the selection of South Pier Frameworks Ltd. to construct an essential housing detached dwelling located at 500 Fraser Street for $475,451.34 plus GST;
-
Authorizing the allocation of funding from the Housing for Essential Services Fund through the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness; and
-
Directing staff to apply to the PacifiCan Lytton Homeowner Resilient Rebuild Program for non-repayable grants.

Approved a list of proposed projects to be funded from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs $6.26 million grant and Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness site readiness grant of $9.8 million and directed staff to prepare a 2026–2030 Five-Year Financial Plan amendment to add the project costs to the current year’s expenditures;

Approved updates to the Village’s archaeology grant program to confirm that a property owner with two adjoining lots or a two-lot consolidation for development would be eligible for a $20,000 grant for each lot to paid by the Village and reimbursed by the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness;

Authorized two smaller water projects, including installation of water meters at IR17 and IR18 for equitable funding of the water system and construction of five water sampling stations, and authorized $60,000 from the $6.26 million Municipal Affairs Wildfire Recovery Grant and $50,000 from the UBCM Water Grant for the projects respectively;

Received an update on Development Services activities, including development and building permit inquiries and applications and initiatives such as economic development, the Official Community Plan Update, and park upgrades (Read the April 2026 Development Services Activity Report); and

Adopted the following bylaws:
