Lytton youth share ideas on Lytton's Official Community Plan Update

Village Update

On June 15, 2026, Village staff met with classes at the Kumsheen ShchEma-meet School to discuss Lytton's Official Community Plan (OCP) Update. The sessions included questions related to the student’s ideas and aspirations for future buildings, uses, and community facilities in the Village.

The engagement varied through the grades, where students discussed the questions, prepared map collages,  and added their ideas to a scaled model of downtown.

Engagement with senior grades at the Stein Valley Nlaka'pamux School (SVNS) was postponed due to the June 16th power outage. Staff are currently considering alternative opportunities for SVNS input.

Young adult engagement continuing

In early July, the Village will launch an online Young Adult Survey (YAS) focused on individuals between the ages of 16 and 35 years as they are the future of this community. It is important to consider the role of the Village in addressing the needs of this younger demographic, ensuring that housing, community facilities, employment, and land use opportunities are recognized in the updated OCP.

The YAS will be available on the Village's website and promoted through social media and other Village communication channels. Prizes will be offered to encourage participation.
