Village Update
At their meeting on October 28, 2025, Council received an interim housing strategy and 2025 housing needs report to help address Lytton’s workforce housing needs for temporary and permanent employees working within or for the Village.
The strategy is an interim action plan for 2026–2027. A detailed housing plan with a longer timeline will be included in the update of Lytton’s Official Community Plan.
The Interim Housing Strategy identifies opportunities for additional housing that the Village of Lytton could pursue.
Council supported the recommendations in the report to:
- Prepare a comprehensive inventory of housing for the temporary workforce for rebuilding;
- Directed staff to explore options related to RVs on properties including:
- Permitting RVs on properties that have a building permit;
- Considering Temporary Use Permits on residential properties to accommodate multiple RVs;
- Developing a RV Park for short-term workforce, then transitioning to a permanent RV Park
- Prepare a request for proposal to construct three units of housing on properties that the Village owns 500 Fraser Street, 455 Fraser Street, and 665 Station Road and explore legal, financial, and management considerations related to this.
