BC Wildfire Service shared the following update:
BC Wildfire Service crews will be working to burn approximately 20 piles beginning as early as Nov. 7, 2025, and will be ongoing. This project is taking place in conjunction with danger tree falling and bucking in order to remove hazards to trail users and to reduce the accumulations of fuels (e.g., dead wood or brush) around the Old Wagon trail within the park.
Burning will only proceed if conditions are suitable and allow for smoke dispersal during burn operations, though smoke may also linger in the following days.
Smoke from piles may be visible from the communities of Lytton, Gladwin, Nicomen Indian Band and Lytton First Nation. BC Wildfire Service personnel will carefully prepare, control and monitor these piles at all times.
To report a wildfire, unattended campfire, or open burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 tollfree or *5555 on a cell phone or through the BC Wildfire Service mobile app. For the latest information on current wildfire activity, burning restrictions, road closures and air-quality advisories, visit: http://www.bcwildfire.ca.
