At the Regular Council Meeting on June 9, 2026, Sergeant Michael Philion, RCMP Lytton Detachment Commander, provided an overview of policing in 2025, including staffing, infrastructure, and calls. He also talked about strategic priorities for 2026: 1) traffic and enforcement, 2) accountability and good governance, and 3) crime reduction.
Following this, Council:

Received the Village Of Lytton draft 2025 Annual Report with Financial Statements (see the article below);

Receive and authorized the Mayor and Chief Financial Officer to sign the 2025 Statement of Financial Information (SOFI) report;

Authorized the transfer of $112,992 from the Insurance Proceeds Reserve to the Lytton Museum & Archives for contents lost in the 2021 fire and directed staff to seek agreement with the Lytton Museum Commission to use the funds to buy shelves, display cases, and other items needed for the new museum in the Community Hub;

Received an update on Development Services activities, including development and building permit inquiries and applications and initiatives such as the Official Community Plan Update, park and downtown revitalization, essential housing development, and economic development (Read the May 2026 Development Services Activity Report);

Received three reports from planning students from the University of the Fraser Valley, which staff will consider along with other input received so far and upcoming student engagement and a young adult survey in Lytton, for the Official Community Plan Update (Read the memo from the Director of Planning for context):

Approved an extension to June 9, 2028 for a revised Development Permit for the proposed grocery store at 240 Main Street (See Development Permit 2023-01 REV);

Adopted Zoning Amendment Bylaw (500 Fraser St+R1S) No. 780, 2026 and Zoning Amendment Bylaw (Seventh Street) No. 781, 2026; and

Received correspondence from Lertechx about an underground energy-water system being developed and asked staff to request more information; and

Released resolutions from a closed Council meeting approving a contract for Raven Dunstan as Project Coordinator, Construction / Administrative Assistant and enrolment as an associate member with the Municipal Insurance Association of B.C.
