Fire and Emergency Services Centre Project

In spring 2026, the Village awarded a contract to Faction Architecture Inc. to design the facility, and the team has been working directly with Lytton Fire & Rescue, other fire service representatives, and emergency response providers on technical requirements gathering. Design plans will reflect operational needs, Building Code requirements, site specifications, access constraints, and federal funding requirements to meet net zero and fire resilient standards. 

Discussions continue between the Village of Lytton and BC Ambulance about potential co-location of the ambulance station in the new building.

At the September 22, 2026, Regular Council Meeting, Council approved an engagement plan, which supports broader engagement of community members in the Lytton area, including neighbouring Nlaka'pamux communities. Check back for updates here.

In December 2025, the federal government confirmed $23.1 million in funding for the Village of Lytton’s Fire and Emergency Services Centre through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program. The new facility on Loring Way will replace the fire hall, which was destroyed in the 2021 fire. The building will include the following:

• Space to safely store Lytton Fire & Rescue’s fire trucks, rescue vehicles, equipment, and gear, and provide training for Lytton Fire & Rescue volunteer firefighters; and
• An Emergency Operations Centre to coordinate larger emergency responses and space to gather, train volunteers, and store emergency supplies.

Lytton Fire & Rescue is currently operating out of a temporary fire hall located at the Old Mill site.

The Government of Canada is investing $23,142,640 in this project through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program.

Funding for this project falls under the $64 million that the federal government announced on June 14, 2022 towards rebuilding Lytton through the construction of net-zero and fire-resistant public buildings.
