Are you rebuilding your home or yard or working on a local memorial project?
Several original municipal benches and lamp posts salvaged from the 2021 Lytton fire are being given away for free. These pieces are a resilient part of our town’s history and are being offered directly to Lytton villagers, members of surrounding Nlaka'pamux communities, and Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) residents who would like a piece of our community’s heritage for their properties.
Critical details – please read before pick-up
They are extremely heavy: These are heavy-duty municipal artifacts. You will need a flatbed truck, trailer, or heavy-duty pickup truck to haul them, along with tie-downs and extra lifting help.
No lifting assistance available: Please bring your own extra muscles, straps, or loading equipment. Public Works will not be helping to lift or load them.
Safety first: These items went through the 2021 fire. They have not been washed or cleaned and have fire/soot weathering. Wear heavy work gloves for pick-up.
Priority to Lytton villagers and Nlaka'pamux community members: The Village of Lytton would love for these to go to locals who are rebuilding or want a piece of our community’s history.
Location for lamp posts pick-up: The lamp posts are located at Hobo Hollow and are in three pieces: the base, centre post, and lamp shade. Unfortunately, most of the lamp shades were melted.
Location for bench pick-up: The metal benches are located at the Old Mill site office at 769 Trans Canada Hwy.
First come, first served: They are available to whoever can bring the right vehicle and help move them.
Pick-up times: Email Public Works at publicworks@lytton.ca to schedule a pick-up time from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday.
- October 5 to 23, 2026 – Village of Lytton residents
- October 12 to 23, 2026 – Surrounding Nlaka'pamux community members and TNRD residents
After October 23, 2026, all remaining items will be scrapped.
