Inspections

Throughout the building process, you also need to book inspections to make sure construction follows the BC Building Code and requirements of the Village's zoning and building bylaws.

BC Building Code changes in effect March 10, 2025

New BC Building Code changes came into effect on March 10, 2025. Village staff will review your building permit application using the 2024 BC Building Code.

Ensure your building plans:
 
  1. Include design for Wind and Seismic Lateral load bracing.
  2. Include any Adaptive Dwelling Unit accessible design criteria for multi-unit projects and backing for grab bars in buildings such as detached houses (single-family),  semi-detached houses, houses with a secondary suite, duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, row houses and boarding houses.
  3. Meet the ZERO Carbon Step Code minimum EL-1 and Step Code 3 of the Energy Step Code.
