The Village of Lytton has received feedback over the last few days about correspondence from Andy Thomsen of Kelowna included in the Council package on April 23, 2024.
The Village should not have included this letter in the Council package and apologizes for the harm that it has caused to Indigenous Peoples and our relationships with Indigenous community members and neighbouring communities. This was not our intention.
The Village is currently looking into our internal procedures and our Council procedure bylaw, so we can avoid inadvertent harm in the future.
Council and staff are committed to ongoing learning, including learning from our mistakes and their impacts, as part of our commitment to Reconciliation.
