On March 15, the Village hosted an informal session with property owners and builders who have active building permits to answer questions about rebuilding. The Village will consider hosting sessions like this to answer additional questions in the future.

Insurance extension reminder
During the meeting, Rob de Pruis from the Insurance Bureau of Canada reminded property owners that the insurance extensions that they received last year would expire June 30, 2024.
If property owners require an additional extension they should start talking to their insurance provider in May.
If they are taking action towards rebuilding (for example, applying for a building permit from the Village or hiring a building contractor), this will give a good indication to the insurance company that they plan to rebuild. In this case, the extension should be approved. If they have not taken any steps toward rebuilding, an extension might not be approved.
If you need help with your building permit, you can contact the building department or community navigator.
