Village Update

Interior Health provided the following update this week:

  • We're looking forward to bringing our concept for health services to the community starting in April 2024, when we'll be asking key partners and residents to review our plan and provide their input. Specific dates and times for this engagement will be confirmed very soon and shared widely.
  • Highlights of the concept plan include:
    • a focus on integrating culturally safe,
    • team-based primary care,
    • reduced wait times between lab testing and treatment.
    • leveraging new technology to improve access to services, and
    • incorporating a climate-resilient approach to construction.
  • We will be sharing further details about these topics and others during our engagement sessions to ensure everyone is well informed and has an opportunity to input and ask questions.
  • This concept plan was developed based on extensive engagement in 2023, consideration of new and evolving technology solutions, as well as a review of data about how people have been accessing services in Lytton over the past several years.
  • Results of this next phase of engagement will be considered and incorporated into a finalized health services plan, which will guide next steps on construction of a permanent Lytton health centre.

Current health services

  • As this work commences, people in the area may continue to access health services out of the Lytton Primary Care Health Clinic at 1540 Silo Road on Lytton First Nation lands, where we have been offering health services to meet the most important health needs in the community.
  • Services at the primary care clinic are offered Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and are supported by a physician who see patients on a rotating basis both in person and virtually, and two registered nurses, who assess and co-ordinate care, and an Indigenous Patient Navigator.
  • Home health and home support, mental health and substance use, and public health services are also offered in the community.
  • Interior Health is leasing space from the Lytton First Nation for the next few years while planning and construction of the permanent health centre proceeds. We're grateful to Lytton First Nation for making this possible and for working together with us to deliver health services in the area.
