Village expands emergency training

Type(s)
Village Update

In B.C. emergency management is coordinated through the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness.

To be better positioned during emergencies to work with our regional and provincial partners, Council and staff continue to receive training, along with regional partners. This has included basic emergency management training and building skills to coordinate support for first responders and residents in the event of a major emergency.

In 2024, the Village received advanced training in the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) functions, including management, planning, logistics, and operations. In early 2025, the Village will continue with training in the following:

  • Finance
  • Mock emergency exercises
  • Hazard, risk, and vulnerability analysis
  • Psychological resilience in disasters
  • Community emergency management foundations
  • Community evacuations
