New! 2025 TLKemchEEn FireSmart Rebate Program
FireSmart Home Ignition Zone Assessments
Taking action to FireSmart your property will decrease the risk of wildfire damaging your home.
What is a Home Ignition Zone?

The condition of your home and the area within 30 metres around it is the most important factor in whether your home will catch fire and be damaged during a wildfire. This area is called the Home Ignition Zone (HIZ).
A properly maintained HIZ can significantly lower the intensity of the fire and its ability to spread. When neighbours work together to establish interconnected HIZs, they can greatly reduce the risk of fire spreading from one house to another
