Update: Please note that the closure dates have been revised to May 28, 29 and June 3 instead of May 27, 28 and June 3, 2025.
The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) will be implementing 3 overnight closures on Highway 1 at the Tank Hill site, located 14km east of Lytton, BC., to facilitate the placement of girders and concrete panels on the new structure over the CPKC Railway. All 3 overnight closures will be for 10 hours as follows:
- May 28, 2025: 7 p.m. to May 29, 2025: 5 a.m.
- May 29, 2025: 7 p.m. to May 30, 2025: 5 a.m.
- June 3, 2025: 7 p.m. to June 4, 2025: 5 a.m.
During the closure period, hard closures will be in place at the intersections of Highway 1 & 12 and Highway 1 & 8. Checkpoints in Lytton and Spences Bridge will be maintained to provide travelers with information about their options. Local traffic will still have access to the Gladwin Area and Nicomen River Road. All other traffic will be detoured via Highway 12 and Highway 5, with guidance provided through portable message boards, dynamic message signs (DMS) in Lillooet and Ashcraft, and real-time updates on DriveBC.
Drivers traveling between the Interior and the Lower Mainland are encouraged to use Highway 3 or Highway 5 as alternative routes.
Emergency vehicles will be provided access throughout the planned closures. MOTT appreciates the cooperation and understanding of local communities and residents during the closure.
