Council Briefs
Village Update
At the Regular Council Meeting on April 7, 2026, Council:
- Approved the 2026 Annual Plan and directed staff to report back on key performance indicators for the first quarter of 2026 at the next Council meeting (Read the article below);
- Received a report about archaeological permits (which are set to expire), approved applications to the provincial Archaeology Branch for site alteration and heritage investigation permits for municipal works (including construction of Village buildings, landscaping, utilities, parks, FireSmart activities, etc.), and authorized the Chief Administrative Officer to sign the site alteration permit application;
- Received the 2026-2030 Five-Year Financial Plan and later gave first three readings to Five-Year Financial Plan 2026-2030 Bylaw No.778 2026 (Read the article below);
- Received an update from staff on Development Services activities, including building and planning inquiries and permits and the Village’s planning and development initiatives (Read the March 2026 Development Services activities report);
- Received a report on a lane closure and road closure (of the east side of Fraser Street, north of 7th Street) to accommodate the expanded Chief Spint’lum Park, and later gave first three readings to Road Closure Bylaws No. 774, 2026 and No. 775, 2026 (Read the public notice below); and
- Received a report on Zoning Amendment Bylaw (Temporary Housing) No. 776, 2026, and later gave second reading to the amended bylaw and directed staff to prepare a notice (see the public notice below).
Council also received correspondence:
- About the upcoming Canyon Cruise event on May 17, 2026 and approved the requested support from the Village;
- From Judith and Ross Urquhart about the Five-Year Financial Plan 2026-2030 and passed a motion to respond to the letter; and
- From Peggy Chute with a donation of $2,000 for refurbishing Lytton’s 1941 International Harvester fire truck and approved issuing a tax receipt (Read about this project: Help restore a part of Lytton's history; donate to fire truck restoration).
