Village Update
At the July 23 Regular Council meeting, a delegation including representatives from Lytton First Nation and Pivotal Integrated Resource Management, made a presentation to Council about a proposed gasification plant in Lytton.Council then agreed to letter of support for Lytton First Nation to apply to the Municipal Green Fund for a feasibility study for the gasification plant.
Lytton Council also:
- Received an update on 2024 communications and engagement survey results (read a summary of the survey results);
- Received the June 30, 2024 financial report;
- Adopted a new purchasing policy and rescinded the previous procurement and purchasing policy;
- Received a Public Works update (read about water, wastewater, and parks updates);
- Received an update about moving Lytton Fire Rescue Service into the temporary fire hall location this week (read more about this below);
- Gave first three readings to an officers and delegation authority bylaw with an update to wording in Section 3(l) and Section 4 (g) to say "exercising additional duties and responsibilities that the Chief Administrative Officer or Council (through the CAO) may assign from time to time
- Deferred giving second reading to a zoning amendment bylaw for parking and loading provisions and referred it back to staff;
- Received correspondence from Penguin Random House Canada about donating a copy of Lytton: Climate Change, Colonialism and Life Before the Fire by Peter Edwards and Kevin Loring, which is available for community members to borrow from the Village Office.
