Village Update

During the Regular Council Meeting on May 14, 2024, Council:

  • authorized a contract with Stormy Lake Enterprises Ltd. to develop a Tourism Economic Development Plan for $59,880, consistent with the response received for the Village's request for proposal to be funded from an Economic Development grant of $1 million from the Ministry of Forests;
  • received the Development Services activity report for information (Read the presentation);
  • received an information report on tiny homes and carriage houses (Read the presentation);
  • received an information report providing an update on the strategy for the Official Community Plan permit areas project (Read the presentation) and directed staff to engage a Qualified Environmental Professional to complete a technical study to refine the information available and mapping of sensitive riparian environments;
  • directed staff to prepare a zoning amendment bylaw to permit secondary suites in detached dwellings;
  • authorized the continuation of the repairs needed to provide a secure safe storage shed at the Old Mill Site and directed staff to arrange a photo opportunity and a thank you with the Mayor, Council, Fire Rescue members, Falls Creek Alliance, BNR Electric and all contractors who have been involved with the project;
  • gave first three readings to Growing Communities Reserve Fund Bylaw No. 751, 2024; and,
  • adopted the 2023 Audited Financial Statements as presented by BDO Canada LLP.
