Council Briefs
On October 22, 2024, there was a public hearing and Regular Council Meeting.
There were no submissions for the two bylaws considered at the public hearing, and Council gave third reading to the bylaws during the regular meeting (Read the presentation). The bylaws are intended to change the OCP land use designation and zoning of the Village property at 30 Main Street to improve site operations, access, and on-site parking for the Public Works site.
During their regular meeting, Council:
- Received the September 30, 2024, Key Performance Indicator report (Read the updated Key Performance Indicators);
- Received a report on the estimated cost ($11.9 million plus additional works by the Village) for BC Hydro to relocate the power service underground in the Village;
- Directed staff to discharge Covenant KX93881 and directed staff to inform the property owner of Council’s decision;
- Received the September 30, 2024, financial update (Read the Council report);
- Authorized a change order for A.E.W. LP for $988,057.15 to cover archaeology costs during backfilling and reporting required under the archaeology permits;
- Gave third reading to two bylaws following the public hearing:
- Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 760, 2024
- Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 761, 2024
- Supported the Nlaka’pamux Remembrance Day Pow-wow with a contribution of $1,000 to be taken from the Interior Communities Fund.
