At their Special Council Meeting on September 18, 2025, Council:

Received the September 2025 update on capital projects, including the Community Hub, Fire Hall, Village Office, Public Works Building, and sewer and water upgrades;

Received a report on proposed permissive tax exemptions (exemptions from municipal property taxes) for non-profit organizations who own land in the Village, and later gave first three readings to the 2026 permissive tax exemption bylaw;

Approved Kala Geoscience Ltd. for the evaluation of Well No. 1 and authorized Chief Administrative Officer Diane Mombourquette to sign the contract; and
-
Received a verbal update from staff on the Village’s backfilling program, which will end on September 30, 2025.
After discussing three proposed motions, Council endorsed the following revised motions:

THAT Council direct staff to approach the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness to explore if it is possible to change the criteria of the archaeology grant;

THAT Council direct staff to include a public water distribution system into parks planning; and
-
THAT Council direct staff to bring back more information for a resident planter program.
