The Village of Lytton has been working with the Two Rivers Community Services Society (TRCSS) to plan two phases of improvements for Pocket Park.
At the May 13, 2025 Council meeting, Council approved funding contributions for Pocket Park improvements including the:
- transfer of up to $30,000 from the Growing Communities Reserve to fund Phase 1 improvements; and
- contribution of an additional $15,000 from the Growing Communities Reserve in support of an application to the Northern Development Initiative Trust for Phase 2 improvements

Phase 1: Shade structure
The TRCSS, Canadian Healthy Communities Initiative, and local community donors have contributed more than $41,000 in cash and in-kind services to the initial phase, which will include installation of a timber frame shade structure built in Lillooet. This weather protected structure will provide a picnic area where residents and visitors can gather and celebrate.
The foundations, frame, and roof for the shade structure will be installed in Pocket Park within the next four to six weeks, in time for hotter temperatures.
Phase 2: Landscaping, misting station, and improvements
The second phase of improvements (subject to approval of a grant from Northern Development Initiative Trust's Community Places program), will include:
- Designing and replanting the landscaped slope
- Installing a summer misting station and picnic table
If the grant is successful, the Village will begin the landscaping design immediately and will complete the irrigation and planting through the fall. The Village will aim to have the misting station in place this summer.
