Program aims to manage unsightly premises and reduce fire hazards
The Village of Lytton has launched a new vegetation management program for private property owners. The program allows property owners, who choose to participate, to pay a $200 annual fee for two to three scheduled visits by Village staff to cut grass, trim around structures, fences, and barriers, and reduce vegetation on their lots.
This year, the program will run from August 1 to October 15, 2026. In future years, the program will run from May to October.
Mayor Denise O’Connor said, “We realized that managing grass and vegetation was a barrier for some property owners, especially those who live outside of Lytton. This dry vegetation creates additional fire risk and anxiety for the community members.”
She added, “Rather than relying on enforcement of the Village’s bylaw related to unsightly premises, this program aims to provide a friendly, convenient, proactive service for property owners, and to help the Village recover costs for the vegetation management.”
