In May 2025, the Village of Lytton is making changes to its building review and inspection services:
- The Thompson–Nicola Regional District’s (TNRD) Building Department will be assuming its historical role as the plan checker and coordinator for the Village of Lytton’s building permits.
- Building & Permits Manager Lynn Berlin will be finishing her work with the Village mid-May.
- Building Inspector John Passmore's last day was April 24, and the Village has posted a position for a Building Inspector, who we hope to have available for inspections in Lytton one day per week. The application deadline is May 7.
Thank you to Lynn and John for their support, service, and professionalism as Lytton rebuilds.
How to book inspections
Here’s the anticipated plan for interim building inspection services during this transition:
- April 28 to May 2: TNRD inspector Dennis Wolf will be in Lytton on Friday, May 2 to do inspections. Book your inspection requests early (at least one day ahead) using Cloudpermit.
- May 5 to 9: A TNRD Inspector will likely be in Lytton on Friday, May 9. We will confirm this by May 7. If you have any questions or concerns, email lberlin@lytton.ca or clamont@lytton.ca.
- May 12 to 16: We are currently trying to find a Building Inspector contractor to help this week. Please check back later this week.
Check back to confirm up to date inspection service dates.
Need inspections in the next couple of weeks?
If you need inspections for your project over the next couple of weeks, email Lynn Berlin at building@lytton.ca as soon as possible.
Why are we making these changes?
The Village of Lytton is committed to providing required municipal services and managing financial sustainability, particularly as we move from rebuilding to regular operations.
To keep property tax increases within a reasonable level, Lytton will need to rely on partnerships to deliver some services to its taxpayers. Currently, the Village works with surrounding communities on emergency management. And, this year, the Village is also returning to its historical relationship with the Thompson-Nicola Regional District’s Building Services to issue building permits.

We will share updates through the Village’s newsletter, website, and Facebook page.
