Village Update

As part of the Village of Lytton and Lytton First Nation’s collaborative efforts to decrease wildfire risk, a local crew will be conducting fuel reduction in the Loring Way area (see the map below).  Work will include falling hazardous trees, thinning and pruning trees, clearing brush, and removing debris, primarily through burning.

Residents can expect to see smoke in Lytton from burning.

Timing

Work may start as early as Monday, March 2. The end date will depend on the burning conditions.

If the project ends before the entire fuel management area is treated, the remaining work will be finished in the fall.

Funding

The project is being funded by the UBCM Community Resiliency FireSmart Community Funding Supports through the TLKemchEEn FireSmart Collaborative.

In Lytton, the TLKemchEEN FireSmart Collaborative coordinates FireSmart activities for both the Village of Lytton and Lytton First Nation.
