Partner Update
Thompson–Nicola Film Commission shared the following update on what's happening in the film industry in the region:
- A total of 7 projects have filmed in the region since the beginning of June:1 documentary, 2 independent features, 1 short film, 1 episodic, and 2 commercials.
- INFilm Payroll Clerk Training Course now available for free through Creative Pathways. This is a tremendous opportunity for anyone to get accreditation for payroll in film. It is offered online for free for anyone living in BC and this class will fill up fast.
- Familiarization Tour plans are underway. In 2026 we will be touring Electoral Areas A, B, O and P, with a focus on showcasing ski hills and forests to filmmakers.
- Leo Awards – BC’s Film Award Ceremony saw local filmmaker, Colin Matthews, bring home 4 awards for his short, Never Use Alone. “Learn About Film” speakers Amanda Cawley and Jenn Strom also won awards.
- Telus Storyhive video podcasts now streaming - local creators from our region were given the opportunity to share stories rooted in their own communities.
- Small Town Big Screen (season 2): Join Kyle and Manny as they take a behind-the-scenes look at productions filmed in and around Kamloops.
- Ignite Entrepreneurs (season 2): Daniel Akinshola is joined by a variety of successful local entrepreneurs who tell stories about their journeys and give advice on how to be successful in Kamloops.
- Capes of Kamloops (Season 1): Join Miranda Chrisp from Kamloops as she discusses being a mom and offers advice and support to other mothers.

- Netflix's Avatar the Last Airbender Season 2 is now available to watch, and you might recognize some scenery from Ashcroft in the first minute of Episode 1! (Fun fact, 3 productions were filming in the Ashcroft area on the same day that Avatar was filmed. The other 2 have not yet been released, stay tuned!)
- Season 2 of Underdog Inc. is now available and free to watch on AMI+! Filmed mostly in Barriere and Kamloops, this series follows Dale Kristensen, a heavy-machinery operator, truck driver and mechanic, who stands just four-foot-two but takes on jobs built for giants.

The Thompson–Nicola Film Commission (TNFC) is a full-time, full-service film commission. The TNFC markets the Thompson–Nicola region in southern British Columbia, and supports productions wishing to film in the region. The TNFC office is situated in the City of Kamloops.
