Environment and Climate Change Canada and the BC Wildfire Service shared the following yellow weather notification:

Potential increase in wildfire activity: wind gusts & thunderstorms

Event duration: Saturday, August 1 to Sunday, August 2, 2026

• Moderate-strong wind gusts along frontal passage may aggravate existing fires
• Possible increase for new fire ignitions from lightning accompanied by very little precipitation
