At the Regular Council Meeting on September 8, 2026, Council:

Received the preliminary designs of the pool and accessory buildings, which will be constructed adjacent to the Community Hub building, approved engaging and signing a contract with Blue Collar Modular to plan and design the pool;

Received a report on Fees and Charges Amendment Bylaw No. 787, 2026, which includes increases in annual water and sewer rates (including residential rates) to improve cost recovery, address operating funding shortfalls, and support the long-term financial sustainability of the Village’s utility services;

Approved outsourcing the Village’s payroll processing and administration to a dedicated payroll vendor, Payworks, based on comparative market research;

Received a report on Official Community Plan Amendment (Health Care Campus) Bylaw 785, 2026, and Zoning Amendment Bylaw (Health Care Campus) 786, 2026, to accommodate the proposed Chief Spintlum Elders Lodge (with assisted living and independent living units) at 575 Main Street (see the presentation) and the future health care centre, and later gave first readings to the bylaws;

Received Part 1 (Introduction) and Part 2 (Vision, Mission, and Principles) of the draft updated Official Community Plan and directed staff to refer these sections for review and comment by staff and government of Lytton First Nation, Skuppah Indian Band, Nicomen Indian Band, Kanaka Bar Indian Band, Siska Indian Band, Cooks Ferry Indian Band and the Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council, and the staff and the Area Director for Thompson–Nicola Regional District’s Electoral Area "I"; and to schedule a public open house (read the presentation and see the article below); and

Received a letter from CN and Operation Lifesaver about Rail Safety Week and proclaimed September 21 to 27, 2026, as Rail Safety Week (find tips and resources below and on the Village’s channels).
