Volunteer opportunities
Get prepared, build neighbourhood connections, and support Lytton’s preparedness and resiliency by volunteering with the following groups:
- Lytton Fire & Rescue: Join our team of dedicated volunteer firefighters and help keep your community safe. Receive valuable training that you can use for a future career in emergency services.
- Emergency Support Services (ESS): As a volunteer, you will receive regular training to help Lytton provide short-term assistance to residents forced to leave their homes due to a fire, flood, earthquake or other emergencies. This assistance is available for 72 hours after an evacuation and includes food, shelter, clothing, emotional support, and family reunification.
- Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program: Work together with your neighbours to identify shared skills, experience, and resources. Receive free training and get build your confidence and readiness for emergencies.
- Emergency Operations Centre (EOC): Trained volunteers are essential to support the EOC the community’s coordination hub during emergencies. This is where the Village and partner agencies work together to manage response, resources, and information. Watch for upcoming training opportunities with the Village or partner organizations or email bbaxter@lytton.ca.
- TLKemchEEn FireSmart Committee: Join this collaborative community working group to support FireSmart education and hands-on activities for the Village of Lytton and Lytton First Nation.

Make a Home Emergency Plan and connect with your neighbours
Personal and community preparedness start with you. Here are steps you can take:
- Download and fill out your Home Emergency Plan or use the interactive online Emergency Ready Planner.

- Read the Neighbourhood Preparedness Guide and connect with your neighbours.
Notifications
Sign up to receive emergency alerts using the Voyent Alert! notification system. This service is free, easy to use, and anonymous.
While the Village of Lytton does not issue its own alerts, you can sign up with your Village of Lytton home or business address and receive text, phone call, or email alerts from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) and/or Lytton First Nation. This will help you stay informed if there are any large-scale emergencies, evacuation orders, or alerts in the area.
