Village Update

At the Regular Council Meeting on June 23, 2026, Council: 

  • Received the June 2026 update on capital projects, including the Village Office, Community Hub, Fire and Emergency Services Centre, and water and sewer infrastructure upgrades;

  • Received the 2025 Community Water System Report, including an overview of Lytton’s water sources, treatment, distribution, use, and 2025 and 2026 projects (Read the presentation);

  • Authorized the Chief Administrative Officer to negotiate a contract with Faction Architecture Inc. for the design of the Lytton Fire and Emergency Services Centre to be funded through the federal Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program, and authorized the Mayor and Corporate Officer to sign the final contract;

  • Approved the Village of Lytton’s 2025 Annual Report, including an overview of the Village's 2025 activities, accomplishments, and financial position, as well as municipal objectives for 2026. (Read the presentation);

  • Received a report on water and sewer services, which are meant to be self-funded utilities, and directed staff to prepare an amendment to the Village’s Fees and Charges bylaw to increase annual water and sewer rates required to generate $499 per year from residential connections to cover part of the current deficit; 

  • Received a report about Road Closure Bylaw (Seventh Street) No.783, 2026 to close a portion of the end of the road to accommodate development of a duplex for essential housing, and later gave first, second, and third readings to the bylaw; and

  • Received a letter about National Drowning Prevention Week and requested staff to share the information with the community.
